This project begins with a simple question. How might packaging do more than contain. How might it hold rhythm, bring order to variation, and reflect the lives it comes to share.
Make Sense, a leading name in Chinese men’s care, invited us to rethink its packaging system in full. As the range expanded over time, its language lost clarity and cohesion. Our approach was not to remove difference, but to give it form. A structure that gathers rather than restricts. A system that allows each element to belong.
A grid forms the underlying architecture. Bottle diameters are refined into three sizes. Small, medium and large. From this, a sense of order emerges. Measured and composed. Open enough to receive what comes next without disturbance. On the shelf, the collection reads as one.
Beyond structure, we looked to behaviour. Everyday rituals offered their own language. The reach of the hand. The press of a pump. The act of packing and carrying. Objects are asked to work, to endure, to feel right without thought.
From this came a simple idea. A pump head protector with an easy pull ring. Modest in form, precise in purpose. It keeps the mechanism clean and marks first use. It removes the need for excess wrapping. Once released, it finds another role. A bracket for the wall. A clip for a bag. One object, used more than once.
In the hand, a soft click signals each measure. Not for effect, but for assurance. A small moment that guides use and brings rhythm to repetition.
Each detail follows understanding. The result is a system that feels resolved. Balanced, efficient, and expressive in its restraint. It does not interrupt. It fits into the patterns it serves.
It does not ask to be seen.
It simply makes sense.
